      It is very simple. Once you are trained properly with correct mechanics, it is not easy to strike or move incorrectly. Your body and mind know this and disrupting correct mechanics and action manifests itself. The instructional point is why you should be striking across the bridge of your eyes and covering your head and torso-it protects you and targets the opponents simultaneously. The rest of the world does not know this. They are striking what they think is a target-but you do not do that until you Close and Bridge and are in range of the target.

    To strike “at will” means you can strike whenever you wish and there is nothing your opponent can do to stop you. Which is not the same as being able to capitalize on a mistake by your opponent. It’s also not the same as delivering a strike that gets blocked.

    • @edgedcombatives
      @edgedcombatives 7 місяців тому

      It says attack At will. Most cant attack at will because they do not know how to control the fight through timing, maneuverability and post importantly bridging. The bridge will more often than not determine the outcome.

    • @GBlues1
      @GBlues1 7 місяців тому

      @@edgedcombatives oh….. so you think attacking and striking at will is any different? You’re training with sticks dude. Your attack is a strike. “At will” in the context of violence, combat, whatever you want to call it, means you are doing it on your terms. When you want. Whenever you want, because you can. If they can stop it, it’s not on your terms, it’s not whenever you want. It’s based upon being able to capitalize on an opening. There’s a big difference there.

    With all respect and maybe you can correct me ( I did the all PKT system under Thuon Philip Gelina and GT Leo gage Jr) But don't you think you're giving away to the opponent to hit your wrist by extending the slash ? I always try to keep it tight

    • @PTKGO
      @PTKGO 7 місяців тому

      You are describing Tirsia Corto/Close Range striking mechanics, the foundation of all other striking mechanics within the system. Next is Tirsia Largo/Long Range striking mechanics, which are extended in an oblong range of motion. Later you learn that the striking mechanics of every method in the system can be executed and applied in Tirsia Corto/Close Range Quartering and Tirsia Largo/Long Range Quartering. There is no medium range in Pekiti-Tirsia-this is where Bridging is executed. The Striking Mechanics above you cannot see because they are effectively applied against the opponents #1 strike and footwork specifically. Monica's strike was effective even as I displaced and closed my striking mechanics as tight as possible. If you watch the video you will also see that I was ahead in Timing with my #1 but she still "cut" me.
